Basketball fans watching on as the hometown L.A. Clippers went about their work in the NBA playoffs overnight got a surprise blast of EDM.
Skrillex and Diplo’s Jack U project was invited to entertain the Staples Center audience at half-time in Sunday night’s game. Onlookers must have wondered whatever happened to conventional cheerleading as a cute dog in a mini-car mugged the spotlight, a dancer whirled a ridiculous number of hula hoops and Left Shark made an appearance.
Skrillex hogged the mic for a good portion of the set. “Diplo we are one,” the dubstep DJ told his buddy before inviting the crowd to cheer for the hometown team with the chant “L-A-C.”
Jack U’s presence seemingly had a positive effect for the home team as the Clippers beat the Houston Rockets in a blowout to put the team just a game away from a spot in the Western Conference finals.
Earlier, Kanye West performed on the hardwood for the Chicago Bulls’ second round matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bulls lost game four in a nailbiter.
