If eccentric beats are your forte, look no further than Louis Futon.

Fresh off announcing his forthcoming collaboration with Bassnectar, the Philadelphia producer today dropped his new two-track Tree/Impala EP on Plastician’s Terrorhythm Recordings. The bass-heavy and hip-hop inspired release has drawn support from the likes of Datsik, 12th Planet and GRiZ.

Opener “Impala” is a jaunty broken-beat tune supported by stuttered snares, plunking synth hits and miscellaneous chirps and pitched samples. Second single “Tree” is a more plodding number that builds slowly on its lumbering bass line and layered lead to a sparse and droning climax.

Louis Futon’s Tree/Impala EP is now available for free through Terrorhythm Recordings.
