Life as a 12-year-old is pretty awesome. You don’t have many responsibilities beyond going to school and not flunking. You get to stay home when you’re sick and play video games until your eyes bleed. You don’t think it’s great at the time, because you’re going through puberty and your first crush is the biggest, most uncomfortable deal on the planet. Youth is truly wasted on the young.
Kai Song may have a busier schedule than most 12-year-olds, but we gather the DJ and producer must be having a pretty fabulous time. He’s signed to Ultra Records and already making it in the music business. No wonder his single “I Just Wanna Dance” featuring Mindy Glendhill is so fun and fancy free.
“OK … I know I didn’t just win a Grammy or something like that, but, so far this is the biggest and most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me,” Song says. “I was so excited when I found out Mindy Gledhill was going to collaborate with me because I have been a fan since the first time I heard her voice on Kaskades ‘Eyes.’ To me, Mindy’s voice is so pure and ageless and we wanted to create a song with a ‘happy vibe’ that would appeal to everyone no matter how old or young.”
Vibe achieved. Hear “I Just Wanna Dance” below, and then watch this video of the kid laying down a 30-minute mix – if your self-esteem can handle it.
